(For Urinary Incontinence and Overactive Bladder)
Genurin Forte is used for the treatment of overactive bladder (OAB) syndrome caused by urethra irritation, infectious bladder, and prostate enlargement.
It works by relaxing the detrusor muscle in the bladder, which reduces the consistent urge to urinate right away. Genurin is prescribed to the patients suffering from urinary system disorder, bladder pain, nocturia, and urinary tract inflammation.
Active Ingredients and Role of Ingredients
Genurin contains Flavoxate hydrochloride as active ingredients.
Flavoxate is an anticholinergic and antispasmodic agent with antimuscarinic effects that treats OAB symptoms by acting directly on the bladder smooth muscles rather than on muscarinic receptors due to its muscle relaxant properties.
Mechanism of Action
Genurin, the anticholinergic smooth-muscle relaxant, relaxes bladder detrusor muscles and improves bladder tone to prevent urgency, leaks and urinary frequency. Its pharmacokinetic begins after the 50 minutes of intake and reaches the most effective state in 112 minutes followed by 10% to 30% drug excretion through urination.
Genurin tablets are used for symptomatic relief to the patients of the following:
- Suprapubic pain
- Frequency and incontinence
- Urethrocystitis – Urethrotrigonitis
While, Genurin treats urinary system disorder, it does not treat the causes such as infectious bladder or prostate contagion. It can be used concomitantly with drugs such as antibiotics for urinary tract infections (UTIs).
Genurin is over all safe and does not cause side effects. However, rarely a patient may experience:
- Headaches or fever
- Fatigue, drowsiness, or confusion
- Blurred vision
- Facial, tongue and throat swelling
- Urinary blockage or minimization
If any of these side effects persist for long period, consult your doctor and get medical help immediately.
1 tablet thrice a day or as prescribed by the doctor.
