Ingredients
The active ingredients in an emulsifying ointment are:
- Emulsifying Wax
- White Soft Paraffin
- Liquid Paraffin
Uses
Emulsifying ointments are used to prepare topical products such as Aqueous Cream BP and Buffered Cream BP.
Precautions & Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any ingredient: Sodium lauryl sulphate might cause local skin reactions, such as stinging and contact dermatitis, especially in children with atopic eczema.
- It is advised to avoid going near a near naked flames after applying the ointment to prevent risk of severe burns.
- Safe of use during pregnancy and lactation has not been determined.
Instructions to Use
This product is used by pharmacists to develop Aqueous Creams and Buffered Creams; hence it is not sold with dosage instructions.
