(Selective DA2 Receptor Antagonist)

Levopraid contains levosulpride that has mood elevating properties. It increases level of happy chemical – called dopamine – in the nerve endings by selectively antagonizing Dopamine D2 receptors in the brain and body. It belongs to the class of drugs called antipsychotics, however it is primarily used to improve somatic symptom disorder, gut motility and treats gastrointestinal (GI) disorders.

Indications

  • Mental disorder, i.e., depression
  • Gastroesophageal reflux disease
  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Frequent persistent heartburn
  • Indigestion
  • Somatization Disorder: a combination of GI symptoms, sexual dysfunction and neurologic problems
  • Hypochondriasis: an abnormal fear of having a life-threatening medical condition
  • Pain disorder: unexplained chronic headache
  • Conversion Disorder: disorder of voluntary sensory or motor function
  • Body Dysmorphic Disorder: a preoccupation with a – real or imagined – physical defect

Dosage:

1 tablet 2-3 times a day
