Tizaxidine
(Tizanidine 2mg/4mg)
Tizaxidine is a centrally acting alpha-2 adrenergic agonist. By stimulating these receptors, it inhibits the release of norepinephrine transmitting pain signals and promoting muscle contractions.
Indications
Relieves spasms, cramping, and tightness of muscles caused by medical problems, such as multiple sclerosis or certain injuries to the spine. Tizanidine does not cure these problems, but it may allow other treatments, such as physical therapy, to be more helpful in improving your condition
Side Effects:
Dizziness, Drowsiness, Lightheadedness, Clumsiness or Unsteadiness, Vision problems
Dosage:
Initial dose: 2 mg orally every 6 to 8 hours as needed. Peak effects occur in approximately 1 to 2 hours.
