Veloxin IV
(Moxifloxacin Chloride)
The WHO-Recommended Drug for Multi-Drug Resistant TB
Veloxin (Moxifloxacin) is a fluroquinolone, i.e., a broad-spectrum antibiotic that treats a variety of bacterial-resistant infections. It is particularly recommended by the American Thoracic Society and Infectious Disease Society for the treatment of multi-drug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB).
Veloxin has a high clinical success rate. It has excellent tissue penetration and is active against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It inhibits bacterial cell replication by inhibiting DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV – types of enzymes crucial for bacterial DNA replication.
