Fantar DS/Forte
(Artemether 40mg/80mg & Lumefantrine 240mg/480mg)
Fantar® DS / Forte is a recommended Artemisinin combination of Artemether & Lumefantrine to cure malaria within three days. Signs of improvement appears within 8 hours of first dose.
Fantar is effective against both species of malaria i.e., P.falciparum and P.vivax.
Mechanism of Action
Fantar® kills the plasmodium by inhibiting nucleic acid and protein formation processes and preventing the growth of malarial parasites in the blood.
- Artemether – It kills the malaria-causing parasite known as Plasmodium and its species.
- Lumefantrine – It is also an anti-malarial drug effective against Plasmodium in its erythrocytic stage.

Dosage & Instructions
Fantar® 3-day regimen is:
- Patients between 15-35kg 1st day: 1 DS tablet in the morning then second DS tablet after 8 hours
2nd & 3rd day: 1 tablet in the morning then second tablet in the evening
- Above 35kg 1st day: 2 DS tablets in the morning then 2 DS tablets after 8 hours
2nd & 3rd day: 2 DS tablets in the morning then 2 DS tablets in the evening
