Esram is used to treat Depression, Anxiety, OCD and Panic attacks by preventing the reuptake of serotonin into the presynaptic terminals of serotonergic neurons
Mechanism of Action
Escitalopram belongs to a class of medications called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). These agents cause an increase in serotonin levels in neuronal synapses by preventing the reuptake of serotonin (5-HT) into the presynaptic terminals of serotonergic neurons
Indications
Esram is used in the treatment of:
- Depression.
- Anxiety.
- Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
- Panic attacks.
Contraindications
Concomitant use in patients taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), pimozide is contraindicated. Not recommended for children less than 12 years old.
Dosage & Instructions
- One tab daily as the doctor suggested morning/evening.
