Active Ingredients
- Novahist® – contains fexofenadine hydrochloride which acts as non-drowsy anti-allergic.
- Novahist-D – contains Fexofenadine hydrochloride (outer layer) plus pseudoephedrine HCl (inner layer). The outer layer dissolves quickly (within 5 minutes) providing prompt relief from allergy symptoms, whereas the inner layer releases slowly to provide nasal decongestion for a longer period of time.
Unlike anti-allergics, Novahist® does not affect heart. In fact, the manufacturing science behind it ensures the drug works specifically to prevent cardiac side effects. The drug is a competitive inhibitor of H1 receptors only and spares muscarinic receptors. The muscarinic receptors on heart therefore remain uninflected by the drug.
